Upcoming Titles from Peanut Press!

Posted on February 01, 2016 by Ashly Stohl

It's 2016, and Peanut Press is happy to announce our first two titles for this year:

Robert Larson's Summer of our Lives

Raised in Los Angeles, California; Robert Larson began working as a small town newspaper photographer in 2007 while learning his craft and thinking about a future as a documentary photographer. In subsequent years, he traveled the world, volunteering abroad with non-profit organizations such as Mercy Ships, The Red Cross and J/P HRO. It wasn’t until after documenting the death of his grandfather in 2009, that he decided to focus on personal photographic essays and story telling – rather than single images. Robert is represented by Getty Images; his work has been featured in The New York Times, Photo District News, Los Angeles Times and Lenscratch.com.

Rammy Narula's Platform 10

Rammy Narula's journey in photography came when he was handed a camera and told to go take some pictures to clear his head. Very quickly walking the streets of Bangkok with it became an obsession that never relented.

Learn more about Rammy and this project in his recent interview with Wired Magazine.

Printing a Peanut Publication

Posted on July 29, 2015 by Ashly Stohl

Why did we print Charth Vader at Meridian Printing in Rhode Island?  They have printed some amazing books for our favorite photographers.  If it's good enough for Lee Friedlander, Richard Avedon, Robert Adams and Irving Penn, it's good enough for us.

We arrived in the morning and the first sheet was already printed.

Thanks to Joe Chanin's many rounds of proofs, and the skill of the guys running the press, it looked amazing.  But there was still work to be done.  Registration needs to be checked, and ink levels changed to adjust the tones of the image.  How do you do that?

First you get a group of people to stand around and look at the sheet.

Then you wave your hands over it.

Throw it in the trash.

And ask the giant press for a new one.

While the press is working on your new sheets, there is time to kill. You can immerse yourself in Meridian's a library of amazing photo books,

and get some important work done.

Then we recheck the press proofs

and the whole process starts again.  It's exhausting.

But by the end of the day, we had something that we all could agree looked amazing.

Ashly gave the final ok

and the pages were printed...

Joe was blown away by the quailty of the printing at Meridian.

Now the sheets will be cut and bound, and turned into a book.  Pre-order yours today!
